“US” is me, Nancy Rieck, and my knitting community of friends who give me support and encouragement.

I learned to knit around the age of 12 at “The Triplets” house. From then on I continued to teach myself more and more about knitting every time I picked up the needles I lifted from my mother’s unused stash.

Through the years, in between knitting projects, I would paint, needlepoint, quilt, crochet, sew, and a multitude of other arts and crafts that would spark my interest.

Around the year 2001 the knitting explosion hit the area I was living in. Yarn shops started popping up and it became easy to find quality yarn. I picked up my needles daily for relaxation and at the same time became “hooked” on the process of learning more about the craft. I is endless! The pattern stitches, the yarn, the how’s the why’s!

I made a big jump in my knitting technique when my family moved to a new state and my sister encouraged me to join a knitting group to meet people. Up to that time I was a lone knitter, learning from books, articles and changing patterns to fit what I wanted. At my new knitting circle I heard what others were learning, I saw and learned from their knitting projects. A whole new wealth of knowledge was added to my own craft.

One summer’s day one of these new knitting friends said, “Nancy?! Has there ever been a pattern that you have followed completely?” That is when I realized it was time to start writing my patterns down.

I quickly moved on to create new patterns, striving for better technique and at the same time pushing to be creative. It is a process that brings me joy! It is a craft that has countless techniques, creative and learning possibilities.

The computer technology we have today makes it much easier to be in touch with the knitting community. I am so happy you found my website and I hope you enjoy yourself while you visit.
